Six generations ago, Johann Jerke immigrated to the United States from Germany through Russia and settled on what we now call 'The Farm.' They built a sod house which served its purposes for several years with the next generation replacing it with a Sears & Roebuck home built in the 1920s. This same house, now renovated, serves as a retreat for visitors looking for some peace, quiet and a piece of the country life if only for a moment.
Amish have now settled in the area and have rebuilt a barn on the property which now serves as a home for reunions, weddings, meetings and other events. An outdoor ceremony area is available along with tables, chairs and a full service kitchen in the fully air conditioned and heated barn. The hayloft is appointed with chandeliers and white shiplap and exposed post and beam structure.
The Farm is a wonderful mix of modern and vintage aesthetics with historical and familial pieces on display for your enjoyment as well. After an evening campfire and gazing at the stars, imagine waking up with the fresh country air, the sound of morning doves and the gentle creak of the windmill churning in the background. We look forward to hosting you for a weekend stay or an event in the near future!
